Thank you for presents

Seeing heaps of sacks full of presents coming into the hall was exciting. My eyes couldn't stop thinking what could be inside the wrap. Shaking it carefully I could hear heaps of stuff inside making noises. I couldn't wait to take it home and open it. Everybody around me were suspicious what they had inside the wrap. So when I got home I ripped my wrap open and inside was a Decorative Birthday Card.

Thank you to the Variety Club , Motat, Johnson and Johnson. I appreciate what you got for me and I really enjoyed it very much. I will always cherish it and treasure it so that I remember you!

Farewell Point England School

First when I started at Point England I was scared and thought no one was my friend. Crying my eyes out I didn't know where I was when I first started.  But when I met my teacher Mrs Lal she really helped me through the day. Also seeing other little kids coming in really put a smile on my face.

Through out the year many teachers had helped my conquer through 8 years at Point England School. I would like to say thank you to all Point England School teachers. You really cared for me and I loved it. Thank you very much!

I have learnt many things and I enjoyed learning new stuff. Also hanging around at school with my friends. Also thank you to Miss King I will miss you next year and I would like to say thank you for helping me make an effort this year.

THANK YOU POINT ENGLAND AND TEACHERS FOR ACCEPTING ME AND MY SILLINESS!

Reflection Netbook 2013

My Reflection:
For the past 3 years, we have had enjoyed our time on our new netbooks. Learning new things and discovering what we can do on these netbooks. I have enjoyed my time using this new digital. Also making other new things and playing with it. Everytime I log into my netbook it makes me smile and happy.

What I have learnt about on my netbook is to not be rough with it and let it go to waste. Also to keep it nice and good so that it contains at a good level. Also to always leave it where you can see it and not leave it somewhere alse. Make sure you have your NEtbook bag and charger ready to get checked at the end of the year.

A netbook is like a bestfriend to me and I wont leave it by itself all day. Netbooks are like my favorite thing I like to go on when I come to school. Thank you for all the people who made us get netbooks.

Nelson Mandela

Nelson had sadly past away on the 6th December Friday 2013. When Nelson passed away it was a sad day for everyone.

Nelson Mandela was first brought up in a land of sheep and cattle. Nelson was a young man who had many dreams ahead of them, Nelsons catch was "I was born to be free.” Before he was being called Nelson, his name real name was Rolihlahla. But his teacher Miss Mtgine wanted a christian name for him because each student had to have a christian name. After Nelson had finished a conversation with his teacher, his teacher decided to name him ‘Nelson.’

When Nelson was older he achevied his law studies, and had joined the African National Congress (ANC). Nelson Mandela said that the ANC’s task was to unite and build a nation out of the people in South Africa. When South Africa had a new government he was a white man and he never shared the land equally between the South Africans. All the europeans were taking over the land. So this was when Nelson Mandela stood up for himseld and protested peacefully. But all the government did was kill them and through them to prison.

Nelson Mandela was one of those people who was locked in prison for 27 years for refusing the pro-apartheid government. After Nelson was set free, he worked to achieve human rights. Nelson became the First Black President in South Africa. Meaning for all people of South Africa to have freedom for a good future. He was born in 1918 and had spent time in prison from 1962-1990. Now Nelson Mandela will always be in our hearts. Nelson was a big inspiration person to mostly everyone.

Camp Happiness

Putting our bags on the bus ready to go I knew that it will be a long drive so I put my self in place and we were finally off. Feeling excited I couldn’t wait to get there. During the way when we were all in our seats it really smelt disgusting. Looking out through the window the views were amazing. Also eating on the bus was cool.

My first highlight was going to my cabin and settling down. Also seeing all the other kids from other schools was quite surprising. Running to the playground and playing on the swings while laughing at people. On the side of the playground was a small play house it was wobbly and was out of space when I first went in. It was a bit to small for me so I went out and saw people playing on the field laughing and having fun, today was the first day I could ever be happy.

My second highlight was going on the Luge Ride and going on the skyline. The skyline was cool because the view was nice. When I went down on the Luge was hard to control. The luge ride was going super fast and was scary because I nearly crashed into Sesalina. But the funny part was when the lane got more skinnier and the luges were bumping onto the curves and was a bit annoying. Then going up on the chairlift was cool but it was a bit scary whenever it stopped.

But at the end of the day of camp was sad. Everyone didn’t want to go back to school but we had no choice. Thank you Keswick Christian Camp for you lovely food and for letting us have a nice 3 days. THANK YOU KESWICK CHRISTIAN CAMP!

Swimming Recount

We got the opportunity to swim at the Glenn Innes YMCA pools. Learning how to swim was a big experience. I need to work more on my arms and my kicking. Also breathing under water, it was the best time!!

 To our instructor in the middle pool: I would like to say to all of you that you were the best instructors. You were fun and hard on us sometimes (but I loved it). Thank you very much!!

Inspiring Person - Mosa Mafileo

Meeting new inspiring people who might make me change into a real person was cool. But what made me really interested was listening to Mosa Mafileo speak to all the year 8’s gave me an inspiring person and what I really want to become. He was funny at the same time but was very well educated as an impolitic, he also works with Len Brown. One day he said to us that he would love to become the Pasifik Board Of Trustees leader to help all islanders who are suffering out there. The way that Mosa talked to us he really wanted to get us out there and wanted us to be leaders. But what Mosa said really made me happy he said ‘to get your dream you have to catch it’ and that was my plan when I go to college next year.

My dream is to become a really good fashion designer. But what I really need to work hard on is to keep listening and not to get bored of teachers, when they are trying to help us through life. I want to experience what it would be like if my designer clothes could go on magazine and in very special shops. I want to design for famous people and for myself.

The dolphin Tale

“Hahahaha, look at that whale” giggled Wallie. The whale turned it’s face and gave a fierce look. There were rocks beside Wallie so Wallie and his friends began throwing rocks at the whale. “This is boring I want to go, come guys lets go” said Wallies friend. “Don’t go we're having fun here” replied Wallie. “Hahahahahaha, this is not fun” teased wallies friend and off they went giggling at Wallie. “We’ll I’ll show you fun” pressured Wallie as he threw the last rock at the whale. Wallie got closer to the whale and was teasing him.

The whale was angry at the dolphin and ate him in one gobble. Wallie was scared, he cried and cried asking for help but no-one could hear him. Wallie was sad. Then wallie had a plan. He bumped into the whale’s stomach. “Stop, bumping into my stomach you might make me vomit!” the whale demanded. Wallie had a great idea “If I keep on hitting him he will vomit and then I will be set free” Wallie thought to himself. Wallie kept on smashing into the whale’s stomach until he saw food coming out and wallie swam away. “You shouldn’t have done that! Now you have really pushed my buttons!” the whale angrily said.

Zig-zagging and dodging, Wallie was scared so he swam as fast as he could but everytime he looked back, the whale would be there. Wallie was puffed out and he was nearly there. He ran straight  to his owner and the whale was coming down at a fast pace. “Come on, lets go” determined the princess. “Where are we going” asked Wallie. “We’re going to  the king, my dad” replied the princess in a scared voice. The princess mermaid and Wallie swam all the way to the king while the whale was chasing them.

“STOP” said the king “What’s Happening?”. Wallie and the princess we’re talking so fast the king didn't understand what they were saying. “Take a deep breath and tell me now” the king was getting angry. “A WHALE IS CHASING US” yelled Wallie and the princess. The whale was here and the king went out they were talking. Wallie and the princess heard mumbling but they didn’t understand them that much. The king was angry and yelled “WALLIE COME HERE NOW”. “Good luck” whispered the princess. “Say Sorry, now wallie” demanded the king. “I am sorry for being mean and annoying to you, I won’t do it again, I hope you will forgive me” Wallie apologized. “Next Time you should not do that again and i will forgive you” the whale answered.

Wallie went inside and the king said “You know if you have trouble with your friends you don’t take it out on someone else”, “You saw me right” asked Wallie. “I sure did and you have many other friends welcomed to you” the king said. Wallie walked off in a sad face, he thought to himself ‘I will never be mean or hurt other people and make trouble’. Wallie snuggled under his sheets resting his head for another adventure the next day.

Turuhira Thanksgiving Story

In 1863 the first thanksgiving was celebrated on the 26th November. Pilgrims and American Indians was the first people to celebrate thanksgiving day. There president in the U.S on 1863 was Abraham Lincoln who thought of celebrating the event. Thanksgiving is a popular event in the U.S, people love to celebrate this kind of event.

This year different countries who are popular with this historical event are celebrating thanksgiving in the U.S in Canada and in Liberian. 2013 date for the united states would be on November 28. In Canada thanksgiving was celebrated in October 14th November 2013. Liberian celebrate thanksgiving in November 7th 2013.

Liberians, Canada and U.S loves to celebrate Thanksgiving because it was very popular. Liberians celebrated the event back in the days also Canada and U.S also did. Thanksgiving is celebrated to give thanks to God and Americans for freeing the slaves and granting them Liberia in Africa to live as free men. Thanksgiving is also an opportunity for Liberians to recognize the good things that life has to offer them, even though the country has been troubled by internal conflicts.

The origins of Canadian Thanksgiving are more closely connected to the traditions of Europe than of the United States. Long before Europeans settled in North America, festivals of thanks and celebrations of harvest took place in Europe in the month of October. The very first Thanksgiving celebration in North America took place in Canada .

Movie Reflection

Yellow Hat - The things I enjoyed

 The thing that I enjoyed was working with my friends and Mr Luifau. Mr Liufau was a great actor and mostly made us laugh. We loved co-operating together and having fun during the scenes. We had a great time talking and laughing during our plan. Sesalina, Kimberly, Dante and Turuhira worked really well and managed ourselves really well.

Black Hat - Which things didn’t I like.

Things that we did not like was that we did not pay attention properly on what my group was doing. We also never helped each other out, we also fight if we should lip-sync or not. We made up a rough ending which didn't quite go well. But still we loved it and went on.

Green Hat - What was something interesting about this week.

The interesting thing about this week was that everyone in our group finished our work on time. We also worked together to make this movie very interesting. The interesting fact is that it’s our first time having a teacher in our class and also making a movie about ‘LOVE’.

White Hat - What did I learn.

The thing that I learned was filming in different kinds of ways like mid shot, wide shot, point view, wide shot, close up, extremely close and wide shot. We also learnt to remember to be nice and also enjoy ourselves. I learnt to be a good actor and not to fiddle around and not concentrating.

Blue Hat - What can I do better next time.

The thing that I can do better next time is help my friends by editing the movie so we can  have heaps of helping hands around instead of doing nothing. We can also work together and have fun with our friends.

Jack and The Princess

The sun was up and the sky was clear, Jack woke up and got changed. As he looked at his mother he knew she was getting very sick. So Jack went out for a stroll along the banks in the forest with his cow. He had to trade his cow to get some pennies from the farm. As he was walking along he saw a man named Mike wearing a long coat. Mike gave Jack three beans to swap for the cow. So Jack took it and went back home, to tell his mother the good news. But when he showed his mother she was very angry. At night time Jack planted the seeds and waited till the next morning.   

Jack woke up with a big stretch and a loud growl. He quickly jumped out of bed and ran outside like a little mouse. WOW! Jack said with a surprising face, the three beans now have been turned into a giant beanstalk that went straight through the top of the clouds in the sky. A while later Jack heard a big horn blowing and this only meant one thing, someone was missing. Jack hopped onto his horse and rode it all the way to the castle, he asked the king who’s missing your majesty” and he replied back “My Daughter”

Jack goes to rescue the kings daughter. Then Jack climbs the beanstalk and he could see trolls and a gigantic cloud with a large castle on it. Jack then sees big disgusting trolls, he sees a little door that is a secret entrance into the castle. So Jack sneaks into the castle and he sees a big giant foot right in front of his face. he looks up and and then sees a giant troll.

On the side of the castle he then sees the princess in a wooden cage where she can not free herself. Then he goes “shh shh”, she looks down and says “what are you doing here? go away!”, Jack replies “I’m here to rescue you”.

So Jane tells him where the key is to unlock the cage, but it is on a necklace that the troll is wearing. He is the king troll and his name is toby. So Jack climbs the trolls clothes and finds the key. The troll was sleeping, when Jack tugs on his clothes the Troll wakes up and see’s Jack. But the troll thinks that Jack is an insect and just brushes him off. As Jack is brushed off he he grabs the key, unlocks the cage and free’s the princess.

But when they go out the door they bump into a shield and makes a big sound. Then the troll woke up and they were running, but suddenly the troll catches them and swallows them up. However they dodge his teeth and slide down his throat and land in his stomach.

There was a whole village living in his stomach.

The village asked “Who are you?”, The princess replied “I am princess Jane”

Then Jack asked “how do we get out of here” Then they replied “there’s no way out”

So They use the bones from people and animals that the troll has eaten and built a house.

Then Jack asked Jane if she wanted to marry him in a trolls stomach, Jane replied yes and they had their wedding in the trolls stomach. Then they had a party in the trolls heart and had a disco.

Jack and Jane lived happily ever after in the trolls disgusting body.

What I want to say to the world?

I think that the prime minister shouldn't take people's homes because people are starting to live in the streets. The prime minister should really take care of his people in New Zealand. I don’t want the world to be like this. I want the world to be more peaceful. I don’t want people dying for us in Afghanistan. I also want them to settle down and talk, through this situation that's making us have this war. Come on and lets get up and make the world more peaceful!!

Prospective Student Narrative

Climbing the vertical cliff, John balanced onto an unsteady rock. Wiping the sweat off his face he was so exhausted and did one almighty stretch up and pulled himself over the ledge. He was so relieved that he made it over the lofty mountain. John was lucky that he survived this long journey.

While walking up a steady hill John finally made it to the Dojo. Standing there with butterflies in his stomach he walked up to the door and knocked. The door opened with a creaky sound. John’s heart was beating fast. He thought that the sensei was going to let him in, but when the sensei pointed to his right, John’s face dropped. When the sensei closed the door, the boy felt sad. So John decided to meditate to prove that he could become a ninja.

The next morning John knocked on the towering door again. As the sensei opened the door, John asked “can I come in please?”. But the sensei pointed to the right again. John was wondering why he pointed so he decided to walk on.

So John kicked open the door, John had an angry frown on his face. So he waited for the sensei to turn up, John was wondering if he was going to point again or let him in.  But when the sensei pointed again, John looked at where his finger was pointing and there was a sign held up saying ‘USE THE SIDE ENTRANCE TO ENTER’. John felt embarrassed because he misunderstood what the sensei had been trying to tell him.

This is a movie that my friend Kimberly and me made. We found out about Independent and Dependent Clause. It was a big experience throughout our learning.

200 Words

Taliah was at her favourite restaurant called The Burger Of Death. On the side of the table was a big giant hamburger. “OMG” said Taliah , the burger was so humongous that she couldn't believe her eyes. So Taliah decided to take the burger. So she put it in her bag and vanished out the door.

The police looked at the tapes from the security camera. Suddenly they saw a little girl take the giant hamburger. Then Mark said “Hey, I know that girl she always use to come here. She told me she was just looking at the menu”.

Constable Pete asked “Do you know this little girl”, “yes I do her name is Taliah and she lives on Fourth street number 86” Mark replied.

The police ran out the door and rushed to her house. “Hello, is your daughter home we would like to take her to the courthouse”, “for what” asked Taliah’s mum. “Your daughter stole a giant hamburger from The Burger Of Death” constable Pete said.

“Sorry constable I promise I won’t do it again” Taliah said. “Of course I would and thanks for telling the truth”.

From that day on Taliah promised not to steal again.

Cuboid

We had to build our own cuboid out of paper because there was no-more cardboard. It was a big experience at measuring and finding out how things can be equal.

This is a 2D cube the length is 14cm and the width id 4cm so if we multiply the 14cm and the 4 cm we will get 56cm2.

 The next one id a 3D shape the width of this 3D shape is 3cm3.

 The length of this shape is 4cm3.

The height of this 3D shape is 14cm3.

So if we multiply the width of the 3D shape, The length of the 3D shape and also the height of the 3D shape. So that will be 14cmx3cmx14cm = 588.

The Heart Attack Grill

Students at Point England School, believe that The Heart Attack Grill Restaurant should not allow to operate in Glen Innes, NZ.

The more people that eat at The Heart Attack Grill restaurant, the bigger obesity people will increase in Glen Innes, NZ. The Heart Attack Grill spokes people has problems about the food and how bad it is for people who are eating at The Heart Attack Grill restaurant. The person who owned the restaurant is providing free meals for people, which is increasing obesity in Glen Innes.

The food at the Heart Attack Grill has too much fat in their food. In their burgers are dripping oil inside their patties. Eating at The Heart Attack Grill will cause health problems, and increase the obesity problem for many people. There are no healthy choices in the meal only burgers and fries who are put in animal fat which is pretty disgusting.

The Heart Attack Grill offers fries, fat and sugar drinks and also 4 patties high and with cheese and grease dripping. The restaurant is full of waitresses who are wearing hospital clothes. Also there are warning signs outside saying 'CAUTION THESE FOOD ARE NOT HEALTHY FOR YOU', but still people come in and eat how many burgers they want. So the owner is promoting unhealthy food and increasing obesity.

The longer The Heart Attack Grill will be allowed to operate in Glen Innes, NZ the bigger obesity people will increase. As long as it won't operate in Glen Innes, young people will be healthy and will live longer.

Baking Bread Rollz

On Friday 10th May 2013, we had the opportunity to bake some lovely Bread Rollz with Mama King (Miss Kings Mum).

We mixed ingredients but Sesalina and I got a bit over-board with the yeast we were supposed to put in 2 Tablespoon but we put in 1/3 of a cup. I was so stressed I felt like leaving it there. But Mama King helped us and we got through. We made the mixture into a dough and started needing it. When we finished we rolled it into different shapes, plating it onto the dish with oil spread all over the dish.

Sitting waiting for the Bread Rollz to be baked as it was sitting on top of the oven waiting to be baked, I couldn't wait to put it in my mouth. When it finished being baked we spread the butter on the bread roll. As I put it in my mouth it was delicious.

Thank you Mama King for letting us bake some delicious Bread Rollz. I really enjoyed ir, also when I put the Bread into my mouth. It tasted nice and moist. You're a great baker and I hope to bake with you again!!!

Will.i.am surprise donation

This Song (that power) was sung by two superstars name Justin Bieber and Will.I.Am. This song to me might be inspiring. I think that this song means to don’t let others bring your dreams down just go and live your life. Enjoy your life and be alive. You can also be the best you can, also help your parents and siblings (I think?).

My dream is to be anything I can achieve in and Strive to Succeed.

On Thursday may 9th 2013, Will.I.Am came to Point England School. My heart was racing and it also took my breathe away. Will.I.Am was a big inspiration to me. He also told us a story about his childhood in East Los Angeles, Will.I.am had a really poor childhood but now he became a very famous superstar and helped out his mum as he grew. The fabulous man kindly donated us $100.00.00 to Manaiakalani School Project, we were all surprised. It took all Point Englanders by surprised and also the other schools.  

Will.I.Am is a very inspiring person to me. Someday I would be like him!

I would love to say to will.i.am a big thank you, and also for your donation.

My PSI Movie

This brand new term our topic is PSI which stands for Point England School Investigation. We are investigating measurements. This is a short movie Kimberly, Sesalina and I put together.

My First Holiday

It was fun and exciting, planning what am I going to do in the holidays. On the first day I went to the G.I pools just down the road of Point England School. I enjoyed my time, with Kimberly, Mele, Tauwhare and Annliz. At night time Annliz and her sister Penelope were going to palmerston north so we had a dinner farewell.

The next morning I woke up and the sun was shinning brightly in my face so off we went to the G.I pools. I really missed Annliz when she went on her holiday. It was so quiet without her, usally she would make me happy. We'll thats the two days of my holidays.

What I have been up to this Term

What made me crazy this term is, doing exercise every Wednesday. Making Movies was awesome and sharing my work on my blog. What I enjoy doing at work is sharing my learning with my friends and learning what I haven't learnt before.

What I really need to work on next term is my writing. I need to write more interesting stories and use my punctuation. I also need to work on getting fit even though I hate it!

Family Holiday

Once upon a time there was a girl named Kelly who loved to fly. Everyday she would wake up and fly around the neighbourhood. Her wings were as shiny as raindrops on spider webs. But one day a witch cast a spell on her because she was too beautiful. Because of that she became ugly and her wings fell off.  After that kelly began to sob and sob, her wings were her life. Being able to fly gave her freedom. Now she was wingless. She is now unable to fly. Until finally she lifted her arms and started to fly once more. Ever since Kelly knew how to fly and achieved her dreams......

The moral of the story is to keep trying and never give up.

FIREWORKS

Once upon a time there lived a man that loved fireworks and his name was Rob.

Every day Rob would walk outside in the dark and stare at everybody’s fireworks.

But one day there was a box that was delivered to Rob’s house. It was a box filled with fireworks from his family that lived in the south Islands. Because of that those were the  most dangerous fireworks in the world.

Also a song was released on fireworks day by Katy Perry named Fireworks. Rob was the person who had recently written this song. Rob was invited to tour with Katy on her California Dreams tour. He was living the high life, enjoying each moment. Until finally Rob became best friends with Katy Perry. Ever since, Rob and Katy finally got married together.

The moral of the story is you can do anything in your life.

THE GHOST

Once upon a time there was a haunted house right next door to Emily who was very curious about this house. Everyday Emily walked past the house next door and she would always see many strange things. Because of that Emily asked her mum, who was living there. Because of that her mum told her a little story about the haunted house. Because of that Emily got really scared and never walked past the house again. Until Finally she called the Ghostbusters and they came and burned the house down. Ever since Emily has become a celebrity in her town and is training to join the ghost busters.

The Moral of the story is ask for help if you are scared of something.







THE UNEXPECTED BROKEN ANKLE

Once upon a time there was a girl named Emily playing on the park. Everyday Emily would walk to the playground with her friends. Emily and her friends would always swing on the monkey bars. But one day while she was swinging on the monkey bars and jumped off. On the way home Emily felt something strange in her ankle. She asked her mum “what is wrong with my ankle!”. Emily’s mother didn’t know and so they went to the doctors. Because of that the doctor said that she has an unexpected broken ankle. Ever since, her friends asked her if she wanted to play at the monkey bars she would have to refuse because her ankle needed more rest.

The moral of the story is to be careful of what you’re doing!
